August is VIP Club Mega Month at PokerStars

PokerStars, the biggest online poker site in the world, recently announced a new promotion that should create some excitement among members of its VIP Club. The promotion, entitled VIP Mega Month, effectively reduces VIP Player Point (VPP) requirements for all of the site’s VIP status levels by an incredible 90%, if only for the month of August.
The new promotion allows players to reach SilverStar status with 75 VPPs (previously 750), GoldStar status with 300 VPPs (previously 3,000), and PlatinumStar status with 750 VPPs (previously 7,500).
In effect, players will be able to reach the site’s SilverStar status after contributing only $14 to tournament entry fees or cash game rake. For example, you could start with zero VIP Player Points, buy into the site’s Sunday Million one time, and instantly boost your VIP status ranking to SilverStar.
Although the reduced point requirements are only available during the month of August, PokerStars’ notably lenient VIP Club terms and conditions allow players to hang on to their respective status levels throughout the following month. This means that players will earn Frequent Player Points (FPPs, which are used as currency to purchase merchandise at the PokerStars VIP Store and buy-ins to events such as the World Championship of Online Poker) at the higher points multiplier associated with their new status levels, all through September.
As an additional benefit to players, PokerStars will be running a VIP Store Sale throughout the VIP Club Mega Month promotion. This will give players access to discounted merchandise items, tournament buy-ins and even cash rewards, in tandem with the higher FPP distribution rates affixed to the ascending status levels. Players who are able to achieve PlatinumStar, the highest status level aside from PokerStars’ yearly status levels, will have access to a $100,000 freeroll scheduled for September.
