While the recent stop at the Seminole Hard Rock Casino in Florida is not an “official” World Poker Tour Championship event –instead the tournament is part of the Regional Series the WPT created last year—it still produced a very robust field of 391 players, including some of the biggest names in poker.
With over $780,000 in the prize-pool (the tournament easily surpassed the $250k guarantee), the winner of the $2,200 buy-in tournament was in line to receive $213,877. Amongst the players who cashed in the tournament were Team PokerStars Pro Jason Mercier and online stars Darryl Fish and Brian Hastings, with the latter two making it all the way to the final table.
In the end it would be Hastings who would capture the title and take home the $213k in first-place prize-money, while Fish settled for 4th place, worth $55,522.
Hastings is best known as a high-stakes cash-game specialist, and was the man who bested Isildur1 for a whopping $4.2 million in a single session in early 2010. This is only Hastings second career cash in a live tournament –in addition to his recent win he also finished in 2nd place on the $5k Heads-Up Championship at the 2011 EPT Grand Final in Madrid, Spain.
Here is a look at the final table payouts from the tournament:
- 1st Place: Brian Hastings — $213,877
- 2nd Place: Griffin Malatino — $117,300
- 3rd Place: Michael Degilio — $78,200
- 4th Place: Darryl Fish — $55,522
- 5th Place: Jake Schwartz — $41,446
- 6th Place: Anthony Ruberto — $32,844
