Cake Poker loses another poker room

No, it’s not Victory Poker –not yet anyway—that has left the Cake poker Network, but just a few weeks after Doyles Room departed the Cake Poker Network, and just a week after the network announced it has entered a “Strategic Partnership” with PokerListings.com, the small UK poker site Gutshot Poker has announced it will be leaving the Cake Poker Network for the iPoker Network.

According to www.pokerscout.com, iPoker is the largest poker network in the world, and is ranked 4th overall in terms of total traffic; trailing only PokerStars, Full Tilt Poker, and Party Poker. The Cake Poker Network was at one point in early 2010 a Top Ten network, and considered the model for growth in the industry, but the network has been shedding players and sites for close to a year now, and has fallen all the way to the #26 spot in terms of overall traffic.

The first hit to the Cake Poker Network was the loss of Lock Poker, followed by PlayersOnly and Sportsbook Poker –Sportsbook being a major skin for the network, and supplying most of the network’s fish. Then the network was hit with some bad publicity, first Cake Poker was found to have inferior encryption after being hacked by pokertableratings.com, and at the end of 2010 Cardroom Manager Lee Jones and Tournament Director Serge Ravitch resigned from Cake Poker.  The final blow came in early 2011 when Doyles Room jumped ship to the little known Yatahay Network.

In a statement released by Gutshot Poker a representative stated, “Here’s the news you’ve all been waiting for: Gutshot Poker is moving to iPoker, the world’s largest poker network on Monday April 4th!”
