f2fish, a Chinese online poker player relatively new to high stakes scene, was the biggest loser on the virtual felt a few nights ago when he lost a total of almost $330k to a slew of established pros, including Ilari “Ziigmund” Sahamies and Phil “MrSweets28″ Galfond.
The still-unidentified online poker player known only as f2fish is appearing to live up to his handle, and the high stakes community is now wondering how long the player’s bankroll will last given a recent downswing that only seems to be getting worse.
f2fish’s losses were Ziigmund’s gains. Sahamies engaged in almost 700 hands of Pot Limit Omaha at the $200 / $400 stake level to win an impressive $150k, two-thirds of which came directly from f2fish. Despite running extremely cold earlier in 2011, Sahamies has enjoyed plenty of success since Black Friday, and is now positive by $600k over the past two weeks alone.
The aforementioned Galfond played over 2,500 hands of PLO, most of which also occurred at the $200 / $400 stake level, to take $150k from f2fish as well. Following that session, the new resident of Vancouver, Canada moved down to $25 / $50 PLO, where he took an additional $100k from Vaga_Lion. Some smaller losses left him with a total nightly profit of $226k. He’s positive by almost $580k since moving.
Theo Jorgensen and Galfond’s friend Andreas Torbergsen, aka skjervoy, also enjoyed positive nights, winning $106k and $142k, respectively.
Although f2fish was the biggest loser of the night by a wide margin, Davin “mTw-DaviN” Georgi had a miserable evening as well. After playing over 2,500 hands to lose over $155k, the online poker community is wondering whether Georgi would be wise to return to his former career as a Warcraft 3 professional.
