Full Tilt Poker facing another lawsuit
written by: Steve under News Comments: Comments Off
Full Tilt Poker’s troubles seem to be getting deeper by the day, as the once prominent, but now beleaguered site is facing its third lawsuit since Black Friday –the first lawsuit was filed by Phil Ivey and was later withdrawn.
The latest suit is coming from Canadian poker players who are concerned about their frozen funds on the site. According to EGR Magazine, Zayn Jetha and Donald Whelan have filed a class action lawsuit, naming Howard Lederer, Ray Bitar, and Nelson Burtnick, as well as Full Tilt Poker Ltd and associated companies Orinic, Oxalic, Tiltware and Vantage.
This suit comes on the heels of another Class Action lawsuit filed by a contingent of US poker players led by Todd Terry, which was filed shortly before Full Tilt Poker had their Aldernay Gambling Control Commission (AGCC) license suspended.
No figures have been cited in regards to the second lawsuit filed by Canadian poker players, but both Ivey’s and the latter suit filed by Todd Terry et al. both sought $150 million in damages.
Full Tilt Poker has paid their overdue license fees to the AGCC in recent weeks, and rumors of a possible sale have been heating up –with everyone from a conglomerate of European poker sites to William Hill being mentioned; not to mention the previous rumors of a group of interested European investors from outside of the e-gaming world. So while the lawsuits have been coming fast and furious, it does seem that progress is being made on the potential return of players’ funds from the site.
