Full Tilt Expands Days After Alderney Gets Cozy with Nevada Gaming

The Irish Times reported on February 2 that Full Tilt Poker’s subsidiary company, Pocket Kings Ltd., confirmed that it will be hiring 100 new employees for its Dublin office, and more additions going forward.  That will add to the 700 existing, a number that nearly doubled since April 2009. The company points to this growth, despite the books showing pretax profits declining by 26 percent and gross profit down by 5 percent for the calendar year ending April 2009.

The new jobs will require technical knowledge or marketing skills, and most require employees to speak at least one European language, Irish not included. From the looks of it, jobs will range from handling markets like Italian, French, and German, as well as Japanese, Greek, Russian and Korean. Hebrew also a plus.

What is most interesting about this news report is the timing. Gaming Attorney Stu Hoegner reported via Pokerati last week that the Alderney Gambling Control Commission, regulator of online gaming websites like Full Tilt Poker, signed a memorandum of understanding with the Nevada Gaming Control Board. The memo will allow for cooperation, vis-à-vis the sharing of information, regarding gaming regulation, up to and including possible “exchange visits and training.”

Not only is the United States currently struggling with the notion of online poker, but Nevada is rumored to be considering it on the state level. Its new friendship between Alderney and the Gaming Control Board could indicate a number of intentions, but whether it’s intrastate gaming or national regulation sponsored by someone like Nevada Senator Harry Reid, Full Tilt Poker has put itself in the middle of the conversation in a somewhat official capacity.

Full Tilt = 1, PokerStars = 0?

Question of the Day: Would you move to Ireland to work for Full Tilt?
