Online phenom Dan “jungleman12″ Cates and CardRunners founder Phil “OMGClayAiken” Galfond were the latest casualties in Gus Hansen’s incredible hot streak.
The battles played out on Full Tilt Poker, where Hansen recorded nearly 1,100 hands to win $300k. Prior to these events, Hansen had already racked up over $4 million in 2011 alone.
Hansen’s night began with 300 hands of NLHE at the $300 / $600 stake level against junglemans12. Within only a couple of hours, Hansen had taken over $100k from Cates, who has been on somewhat of a downswing in the past couple of weeks.
Next, Hansen paid a visit to his old rival Phil Galfond at the PLO tables. After 300 more hands at the $200 / $400 stake level, Hansen earned an additional $240k. A series of smaller victories rounded out his evening, leaving him with $300k in positive returns for the night.
Hansen, a sponsored pro on Full Tilt Poker’s roster, has now boosted his yearly earnings to nearly $4.5 million. This puts him ahead of the second most successful online player for the year by leaps and bounds. Although Hansen has been running incredibly hot all year with the exception of a few temporary losses, railbirds are still speculating whether a crushing downswing may be in the Great Dane’s future. That’s exactly what happened to Hansen in 2010, when his phenomenal start was overshadowed by millions in losses that began in the summer.
Although all of the aforementioned action took place on Full Tilt, the high stakes tables at PokerStars were active as well. Ben “Sauce123″ Suklsy recorded over 3,200 hands against Also11, earning him $191k. Other noteworthy winners included V. Wahlbeck (up $33k), WheresMyRoll (up $35k), Martin Kabrhel (up $40k) and skjervoy (up $101k).
The biggest losers of the evening included URnotINdanger2 (down $53k), Van Marcius (down $56k), paula35 (down $87k), jungleman12 (down $98k), Also11 (down $192k) and OMGClayAiken (down $206k).
