Hellmuth vs. Leatherass match might happen at WSOP

Considering his musings on bankroll management, it’s unlikely the match would be a HeadsUp4ROLLZ affair, but Dusty Schmidt is at the least ready to take on Phil Hellmuth for a six-figure amount. The author of Don’t Listen to Phil Hellmuth, Dusty “Leatherass9” Schmidt, may just have the chance to put his money where his mouth is as rumors have been growing that Phil Hellmuth may actually be willing to take on the PokerStars Team Online pro in a heads-up poker game!
Hellmuth has been challenged before, but has always declined noting that he has nothing to gain, while his lesser-known opponents could make a name for themselves. But when asked about the possibility in his most recent podcast –as well as the grumblings of Hellmuth possibly accepting the match—Leatherass stated:
“I would welcome that action. I can’t imagine finding a softer opponent for that kind of money. That would be wonderful. Would I play him for some astronomical sum of money that would bankrupt me or cause me to have to borrow money if I lost? No. But will I play him for a large amount of money to the rest of the world? Like would I play him for 100 grand? Yes… I can’t probably make it super worth his time. I can play him for what’s almost double the average salary of a person in the U.S. I’d play him for double that in one day, which I think is a pretty big freakin’ amount of money. I never said I’m richer than Phil Hellmuth. But I am saying I’m a better poker player.”
The podcast also talks about Schmidt’s thoughts on Daniel Negreanu’s rededication to poker, as well as some strategic talk, and his latest offerings of free content on his website, DustySchmidt.net.
