It seems as though Viktor “Isildur1″ Blom may finally be living up to all of the hype that’s been surrounding him during his signing with PokerStars and the subsequent revealing of his identity. Blom scored a decisive victory over Dan “Jungleman12″ Cates only a few nights ago, and he’s followed up that success with a series of massive high stakes wins on PokerStars.
The night, which included over 6,150 hands of PLO played at the $25 / $50 stake level, began with a huge session against Mike “gordo16″ Gorodinksy, a noted online pro and CardRunners instructor. Over the course of 2,000 hands, Blom finished up $159k.
Sphinx87 was next on Blom’s list of opponents. That session concluded with a $64k purse for Isildur1. The night concluded with a session against Mitch Carle of Australia, otherwise known as LooneyGerbil. Carle gave up nearly $40 to Blom before declaring that I1 was simply “too good,” at which point he logged off.
The evening marked one of Blom’s most successful single-night sessions since becoming a sponsored player at Team PokerStars. Railbirds and forum crawlers are now wondering if and when Blom, who originally hails from Sweden, will up the stakes even further. The aforementioned session in combination with Blom’s victory over Cates effectively nullifies his poor performance earlier in January.
Though Isildur1 was the most successful player of the night by a huge margin, his victory was echoed by urnotindangr2 (up $75k), Gus Hansen (up $71k), luckychewy (up $50k), and Cole South (up $43k).
Gordo16, obviously, was the biggest loser of the night. He lost around $2k in other sessions in addition to his $159k loss to Blom. Joining him in the losers circle were Harrington10 (down $61k), Sphinx87 (down $69k) and OnTheRize (down $90k).
