LuckyGump Drops $240k Online

It was a terrible week of online poker for Alexey “LuckyGump” Makarov, who lost just under $240k after playing 59 sessions comprising over 3,600 hands. Despite his losses, Makarov (who may still be better known by his Full Tilt handle “NoPasaran”) remains the third-winningest online poker player of 2011 with nearly $1.9 million in profit.

Fan favorite Ben “Sauce123″ Sulsky had a miserable seven days as well, losing $122.5k in 66 sessions and almost 6,800 hands. Terje “Terken89″ Augdal suffered an even greater loss of $176k with significantly smaller volume – 40 sessions including under 2,200 hands.

Fortune swung in the opposite direction for Rui Cao, Theo Jorgensen, verve.oasis and David Eldar. Eldar, an Australian pro who plays on PokerStars as Deldar182, was the biggest winner of the week with $183k in profit. The win required some highly prolific play to the tune of 193 sessions and over 10,000 hands.

Jorgensen and verve.oasis both landed in the +$145k range, while Cao (aka PepperoniF) bagged $119k to bring his yearly total to $1,471,000. Cao is currently seated in 5th place on the yearly leaderboard behind Gavin “gavz101″ Cochrane, Makarov, Dan “jungleman12″ Cates and Gus Hansen, who has maintained the lead with almost $4 million since Black Friday.

Cao won most of his money for the week in Monday PLO sessions against Makarov and Sulsky. Cao and Sulsky played heads-up on four simultaneous PLO tables at the $50 / $100 stake level. The action proceeded largely as a slugfest, with both players trading small victories via extremely tight play, until Cao scored the two largest pots of the evening: one for $64k and another for $58k. Cao emerged victorious with a $137k win, though he lost about $18k of that money later in the week through smaller sessions.
