In its first trip to Vienna, Austria the €10k price-tag for the World Poker Tour High-Roller tournament was tantalizing enough to attract a strong field of 50 players, creating a €500,000 prize-pool that would be divided amongst the top eight finishers in the tournament –the lion’s share, €185,120, would be awarded to the winner of the tournament.
With some of Europe’s top poker talent in the field, it was American Mclean Karr who would virtually coast to the title as he decimated the remaining players at the final table, and pocketed his first big win of 2011. Karr had a breakout 2010 tournament campaign, winning over $1.5 million including two major victories –the first at the WPT Bay 101 Shooting Star Main Event, and the second coming at the EPT London High-Roller tournament.
Even Karr’s heads-up opponent, the red-hot German pro Tobias Reinkemeier was unable to slow him down, even after an early double through in the battle. Just a few hands later Karr would wake up with AK and out race Reinkenmeier’s pocket Sixes.
Here is a look at the payouts for the WPT Vienna High-Roller tournament:
1. McLean Karr — €185,120
2. Tobias Reinkemeier — €104,560

6. Ronnie Kaiser — €24,760
7. Ramin Henke — €20,020
