When Annie Duke, Jeffrey Pollack and Federated Sports and Gaming announced the creation of a professionals-only poker league last month the idea was met with a big mix of hopefulness and skepticism, with a primary concern being that the concept was tried before, and failed miserably in the form of the short-lived Professional Poker Tour (PPT).
The new, still unnamed, league would therefore have to come up with a whole new angle in order to compete in what is already a flooded market of poker tours. Judging by the details contained in the press release that was made public yesterday it seems the tour is trying to be innovative, and with a $20,000 buy-in Main Event is setting itself apart from other tours who usually stick to $5k and $10k buy-ins.
In addition to the schedule that you can find below, other details emerged including:
- Each stop will host a Pro-Am satellite that will award 9 seats to the Main Event
- The Main Event will be Rake-Free
- There will be extra incentives added to the prize-pool
