Party Poker gets rid of all tournament fees
written by: Steve under News Comments: Comments Off
In one of the most player friendly moves in online poker history, Party Poker has just announced that for an unforeseen amount of time the site will be doing away with all tournament fees! So from here on out, Party Poker tournament players will see the typical 5-10% fee that is taken from their buy-in added to the tournament prize-pool instead of into the coffers of the site.
A Party Poker spokesman addressed the new policy in a press release, saying, “In an industry first, all MTT’s [multi-table tournaments] on PartyPoker.com are completely rake free. As the rake free period applies to ALL MTT tournaments – qualifiers for events such as WPT Paris and GSOP Manchester also have new structures which incorporate no fees.”
“Fees being waived on MTT’s is just another reason why there has never been a better time to play at PartyPoker.com in a secure environment where prompt payments are guaranteed whether you are a micro or high stakes player. We will continue this outstanding value promotion for as long as we can – we are already pleased with the positive response to this move we have seen from the poker community.”
The move is most likely designed to attract as much of the disenfranchised Full Tilt Poker player pool after what had been the second largest online poker site in the world had their egaming license pulled by the AGCC. With all of the sites fighting for bits and pieces of the Full Tilt Poker player base, it seems Party Poker is strategically targeting tournament players, and with a no-rake policy they may pick off quite a few tournament regulars from other poker rooms in the process.
