PokerStars Sunday Tournament Wrap-Up
written by: James under News Comments: Comments Off
It was another weekend of intense action at PokerStars. Tens of thousands of players took to the world’s largest online poker site for its slew of weekly tournaments, including the Sunday Warm-Up, Sunday 500, Bigger $109, Bigger $55, Sunday Rebuy, Sunday 2nd Chance, Sunday Storm, Sunday Kickoff, Bigger $162, and of course, the Sunday Million.
The PokerStars Sunday Million attracted 6,525 high stakes online poker players, the exact same registrant pool size as last week. Each player paid a $215 buy-in to generate a prize pool worth just over $1.3 million. The final three players struck a deal to adjust the payout schedule. After Robban_F was ejected in third place for $129k, dan82mur’s queen-high fell to Chris “DaGoddfater” Lastiwka’s pair of 8s. The players earned $156k and $164k for their finishes, respectively.
Noteworthy high stakes online player David “davidv1213″ Vamplew excelled in the Sunday 500, which attracted 816 players, far more than last week. Although the event’s prize pool is guaranteed at $250k, it swelled to $408k after each player paid a $530 buy-in. The top three struck a deal in this event as well, with Vamplew, Mike Dietrich and Ricky Fohrenbach earning $62k, $54k and $50k for their excellent performances.
The biggest online poker tournament of the week, every week, is the Sunday Storm. This week’s roster included a staggering 30,702 players, each of whom paid the paltry $10+$1 buy-in for a shot at the $307k prize pool. No deal was struck at the final table, giving haricubari, peleb and Changen_Gear wins of $29k, $21k and $14k each.
The only other PokerStars tournament player to break the $100k barrier this past weekend was marcotorino, who decimated the competition in the Sunday Warm-Up to earn just over $105k. Marcotorino slogged through over 3,350 opponents, each of whom paid the same buy-in as the one for the Sunday Million.
