Jungleman12 to Take on Isildur1 in PokerStars Superstar Showdown

Thus far the poker world has seen PokerStars’ newest Team Pro member, Viktor “Isildur1” Blom take on two very different opponents in the Superstar Showdown Challenge matches the site created specifically for their newest sponsored poker pro. The challenge matches are played across four high-stakes tables of No Limit Holdem or PLO, and lasts 2,500 hands or until a player is broke.
First up for the man who would later be revealed as Swedish poker pro Viktor Blom was the analytical, methodical, Isaac Haxton, who bested Isildur1 for over $40,000 in the first installment of the Superstar Showdown.
Isildur1’s next opponent was the complete opposite of Isaac Haxton, with the wild Tony G taking on the young upstart. Despite nearly busting Isildur1 early on in the battle –with the typical chatbox needling that Tony G is known for– eventually the young Swede was able to beat Tony G out of over $40,000 –which seems to be the typical win/loss of these matches up to this point!
On the PokerStars blog today it was announced that Isildur1’s next opponent would be one of online poker’s top players, Daniel ‘jungleman12’ Cates. Cates and Isildur1 have already had some run-ins at the PokerStars tables, and things even got a little testy, with Blom questioning Cates’ ability before walking back his remarks –blaming it on tilt.
The match is set to take place at 5:30PM, Sunday, January 30th, 2011, and you can bet the rail will be packed for this one!
