PPA Launches First Membership Drive Since Inception

With Black Friday severely altering the online poker landscape in the United States, the Poker Players Alliance has apparently decided that it’s now time to up the ante and take a new direction in their efforts to battle for legalized and regulated online poker in the US.
For the first time since the group was created in 2006 the PPA is taking part in what amounts to a membership drive, attempting to enlist new members, renew existing members who initially paid dues upon joining the PPA –since the PPA has never asked for, or sent out a renewal notice—and also asking players for donations in any amount.
When the group first got off the ground players could actually join through an online poker room –I joined the PPA via Party Poker—and players were basically given their $20 membership for free, so long as they deposited at said poker room. Obviously times have changed, and with the PPA now needing the money to lobby Congress the organization is once again asking members to pay the $20/year membership dues.
Players who join the PPA for $20/year will receive special access to news and lobbying efforts from the PPA. Additionally, new members and renewing members will also receive a gift package which includes a few small goodies like a pin or card protector, as well as the person’s choice of wither a PPA hat or T-Shirt.
Hopefully this new, aggressive, approach to fund-raising will give the PPA more money in their coffers, which translates to more clout on Capitol Hill.
You can join, renew, or donate to the PPA at their website www.theppa.org
