rise pokerThe new subscription-based online poker room RISE Poker (a 100% legal US poker room) has
just announced the creation of their new team of sponsored poker pros, which is headlined by
1998 World Series of Poker Champion Scotty Nguyen.

Joining Nguyen as part of Team RISE Poker will be Maria Ho, fresh off a runner-up finish in the
$5k NLHE tournament at the 2011 WSOP; Jean-Robert Bellande, best known for his stint on the
hit show Survivor; and Dani “Ansky” Stern, an online legend who appeared on the reality show
2 Months, 2 Million as well as being a top online poker coach at the online poker training site
Deuces Cracked.

All of the members of Team RISE Poker are veterans when it comes to representing an online
poker room: Bellande was a Bodog sponsored pro, Stern represented Doyles Room as part of
the Brunson 10, and Ho was released by UB Poker after Black Friday. Nguyen, the most well-
known of the bunch, has had roles with several smaller online poker rooms in the past.

In an official press release, Steve “Chops” Preiss, the RISE Poker Executive Vice President
of Business Development stated the following, “As some of the game’s most recognizable
and entertaining personalities, Scotty, Maria, Jean-Robert and Dani have exactly what we’re
looking for — legit game at the tables as well as genuine mainstream appeal… Our RISE Poker
community is going to have a lot of fun competing against and connecting with these pros,”

Thus far subscription-based poker sites have met with very mixed success, but if there was ever
an opening for subscription-based poker rooms, the post-Black Friday online poker climate
would seem to be the best opportunity.
