Carbon Poker is a growing online card room that specifically caters to US and Canadian poker players. Currently, the site is only offering downloadable software that is compatible with Windows. Further, the site hasn't made an Instant Play version of their software available. This means that Mac users who are intent on playing Carbon Poker will need to run the poker client in a Windows emulation program, such as Boot Camp or Parallels.
Installing Carbon Poker on a Mac
In order to install Carbon Poker Mac, you'll first need to install Windows on your Mac computer. This can be done with any Intel Mac, such as those with a Core, Core 2 or Core 2 Duo processor. Note that PowerPC Macs, such as the G4 and G5, will not be able to run Carbon Poker Mac. To perform the installation, follow these steps:
1. Open the Boot Camp Assistant on your Mac computer and follow the prompts to begin a Windows installation. You'll need to purchase a supported version of Windows, such as Windows 7, Vista or XP.
2. Restart your computer and log into the Windows portion of it.
3. Open a web browser and direct it to CarbonPoker.com.
4. Click the How to Play tab located near the top of the page.
5. Click Play Now Free Download to begin downloading the Carbon Poker software.
6. Once the download is complete, double click the downloaded file and save Carbon Poker to your Programs folder.
7. Register as a real money player at Carbon Poker. You can do this within the Carbon Poker Mac software.
You'll now be ready to log in to Carbon Poker and start playing for real cash. Remember, you'll need to stay within the Windows emulation software in order to play Carbon Poker Mac.
