High Chicago and Low Chicago are two different variations of poker. Chicago is a form of stud poker and is similar to games such as 7 Card Stud and Caribbean Stud. High and Low Chicago are relatively rare forms of poker. These games are not widely played and are only available at select casinos. High and Low Chicago are usually not available for people to play online.

High Chicago Poker Rules

If you already know the rules to 7 Card Stud, you will have an advantage when learning High Chicago. At the beginning of the game, all players are required to make an ante bet. The dealer then gives each player two cards that are face down and one card that is face up. The dealer should start with the person directly to his left. The player that has the lowest face up card then makes a bring-in bet. This bet is usually equal to a predetermined limit or another limited amount if you are playing no-limit poker. A round of betting then occurs. Each player will either call, raise or fold on their turn. Before the next round of betting, each player is dealt another card face up. After another betting round, the dealer will give each player that is still in the game a fifth card face up. After another round of betting, all players are dealt a final face up card.

Keep in mind that the betting round should always start with the player who has the best visible hand. The players still left in the game will then get a final card that is face down. After the final betting round concludes, the pot is split between the player with the best overall 5-card hand and the individual who has the highest spade among their face down cards.

Low Chicago Poker Rules

The rules of Low Chicago poker are exactly the same as High Chicago except for a few small twists. At the end of the game, the pot is divided between the individual who has the strongest hand and the invidual who has the lowest face down spade card. At the beginning of the game, the dealer will need to decide if the Ace of Spades or the Two of Spades will act as the lowest spade card. It is essential that you make this specification before the start of the game to avoid any conflicts at the end of the game.
