Forty Two Draw is derived from Fifty Two Draw and features most of the same game play principles. However, instead of using 5 hole cards, Forty Two Draw uses only 4 hole cards per player and features a draw limit of 2 cards. The hole card and draw limit number make up the game's name - Forty Two Draw.

Forty Two Draw Rules

Players are dealt 4 hole cards and participate in the first round of betting.

Players may fold, call, check, bet and raise.

The dealer reveals the first community card and another round of betting occurs.

The dealer reveals the second community card and players are allowed to draw up to 2 cards.

A third betting round takes place after the draw.

The showdown occurs, where all remaining players reveal their hands. At least 3 hole cards must be used to make the best possible hand.

The highest ranking hand is the winner.

Forty Two Draw is relatively simple. It follows the same structure as Fifty Two Draw but with different limitations on hole and draw cards, which allows even novice poker players the ability to quickly learn the game in just a couple of rounds. Forty Two Draw allows for up to 8 people to play at a time.

The starting hand is often the most important part of Forty Two Draw. Because of the limited number of cards you may draw and the use of 4 hole cards instead of 5, being successful in Forty Two Draw is greatly influenced by the strength of your starting hand.

It's important to stay aware of the community cards in Forty Two Draw. You should be looking to potentially fill out a three of a kind, four of a kind, straight or flush variation with the help of the community cards. Drawing should be used regularly unless you have a solid starting combination involving 3 or more of your hole cards.

The ability to draw emphasizes the importance of position play in Forty Two Draw. A player in a late position will be able to view the draw actions of all the previous players. Identifying the community cards' value relative to how frequently your opponents are drawing may influence your decision to draw if you are playing from a late position.
