Pineapple is a variation of poker that is similar to Texas Hold' em. Pineapple is sometimes called Crazy Pineapple. It is usually considered to be a dealer's choice game. The game is not widely available. It is usually only played at select casinos and is rarely available to play online. It is relatively easy to learn Pineapple poker because the rules are almost identical to that of Texas Hold' em.
Pineapple Poker Basics
If you know how to play Texas Hold' em, you will have a big advantage. The rules and strategies are very similar with just a few twists. At the beginning of the game before the deal, the two players to the left of the dealer post blinds. Blinds are forced bets that must be posted by players in flop-style poker games. After the blinds are posted, players will then be dealt three hole cards. A hole card refers to a card that is dealt facing down. The person dealt this card does not have to reveal this card until the showdown.
After the initial three hole cards are dealt, a round of betting occurs. After the first betting round is complete, the flop is dealt. The flop occurs when the first three face-up cards are dealt and placed on the board. Another round of betting begins after the flop is complete.
After the second round is where many of the similarities with Texas Hold' em stop. After the second round of betting concludes, all players that are left in the hand choose one card from their three hole cards. Players discard the card that they choose. Now, everyone only has two hole cards.
After players discard one of their hole cards, the next turn is dealt. Then another round of betting occurs and the river is dealt. The river is the final card that is dealt in a poker hand before the final round of betting occurs. After the final betting round occurs the showdown happens. Players have the option of using any of their hole cards or the board or community cards on the table. The best hand during the showdown wins the pot.
Pineapple Poker Strategy
Many of the techniques and strategies to winning Pineapple poker are similar to the strategies of winning Texas Hold' em. Determining probability of winning is a major strategy in Pineapple. Players need to use odds in order to determine their actions. It is beneficial to know what your chances are of finishing with a flush or a straight. You will also want to know the probability of getting an over card or the times you are going to flop a set to match your pocket pair.
Pineapple is a poker game that is not widely available. It is only available at a few online poker rooms and is only played at select casinos. Learning the rules of Pineapple is relatively easy as they are very similar to the rules of Texas Hold' em. However, there are a few twists that make Pineapple a fun poker variation to play.
