Thirty-Two L, or Thirty-Two Limit poker is a variation of the Thirty-Two Card Draw poker game. Thirty-Two Card poker is gaining popularity due to players' high probability of attaining good hands. In Thirty-Two Card poker, cards 2-6 are removed from the deck, leaving 32 cards available for game play. Due to the reduced number of cards, only 4 players are able to play Thirty-Two L at once. Thirty-Two Limit differs from normal Thirty-Two Card poker in that it has a fixed betting limit.
How Thirty-Two L is Played
Usually, Thirty-Two L games incorporate both large and small blinds. The player to the left of the dealer plays the small blind. The next player puts up the large blind. The amount of the large blind is determined by the sum of all players' antes. The small blind is equal to half of the large blind.
Subsequently, each player is dealt 5 cards. These cards are allowed to be seen by their owner only. This initiates the first betting round. The player to the left of the player who played the large blind begins betting by raising, calling or folding. This sets the precedent for the rest of the betting round, as other players choose what to do based on the first bet.
After the first round of bets, each remaining player gets a chance to draw. Players are allowed to exchange between 0 and 5 cards from their hand for the equivalent amount of new cards from the deck. Drawing cards gives players the chance to improve their hands.
After the draw, the second and final betting round begins. Again, the first player to bet is the player located to the left of the player who paid the large blind. The second betting round proceeds identically to the first round. Once finished, a showdown begins in which players show their cards. The player with the best 5-card hand wins the pot. The same player to make the first bet shows his or her hand first.
How Limits Work
Unlike games of Thirty-Two poker that have no limit or a pot limit, Thirty-Two L incorporates a fixed limit into each pot. Limits structure the types of bets that can be placed. For instance, a game of Thirty-Two L that has a limit of 2/4 means that bets placed during the first round of betting cannot exceed 2, and that bets placed during the second round of betting cannot exceed 4.
In some cases, limits not only limit the upper amount players may bet, but they also create a lower limit for bets. For example, games such as these might make it so players may not bet less than 2 during the first round of betting or less than 4 during the second round of betting.
Thirty-Two L is a fairly new poker game that is becoming increasingly popular. By decreasing the number of cards in the deck from 52 to 32, Thirty-Two L creates an environment in which great hands are easier to attain. Furthermore, Thirty-Two L structures bets by instigating a fixed limit.
